The Soil Ecology Society meeting started Tuesday afternoon, and it’s been awesome so far. I had a good feeling about it all when the first session had a priming talk, by Adam Langley, and it hasn’t disappointed yet.

Even though there are only two concurrent sessions, I am always torn between them. It’s so refreshing to be at a smaller conference where you are really interested in the majority of the talks and see people more than once. I participated in the Pine Barrens field trip this afternoon, where we went to a restored ex-cranberry bog, pine plains, and a wetland. There were a lot of insectivorous plants in the bog, like these sundews. We ended the tour at the Rutgers Camden pine barrens field station.
