The student will be developing novel culturing techniques to isolate, characterize, and sequence pyrogenic organic matter degrading bacteria from fire affected soils.
Desired Time Commitment: ~10 hours per week (2-3 credits in SOIL SCI 299)
Requirements: Completion of MICRO 304 – Biology of Microorganisms Lab or equivalent experience in working with microorganisms. While not required, students that have completed MICRO 527 – Advanced Laboratory Techniques in Microbiology are preferred.
Interested students should send a short resume and transcripts to Timothy Berry, the postdoctoral research associate attached to the project.
